1. Who We Are
Digital Closet is operated by Smith Technology Solutions ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at support@smithtech.io.
2. What We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to run the app:
- Account information — your email address and a hashed password, used to authenticate you.
- Clothing item data — category, color, brand, size, purchase price, purchase date, notes, and tags you enter manually.
- Photos — images you capture or select from your library to represent clothing items. These are stored securely on Linode Object Storage.
- Outfit and wear log data — outfit combinations and wear dates you record.
- Closet sharing data — invite codes and the email addresses of people you share a closet with.
- Subscription status — your plan tier (Free or Pro). Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe and are never stored on our servers.
We do not collect location data, contacts, call logs, or any other device data beyond what is listed above.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide the Digital Closet service — displaying, organizing, and managing your wardrobe.
- To generate AI-powered styling suggestions (Pro tier). Requests are sent to Google Gemini; no clothing data is stored by Google beyond the scope of a single API call.
- To process subscription payments via Stripe.
- To send transactional emails (e.g. password reset) if you request them.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or third-party marketing services.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard measures to protect it:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+).
- Passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing — never in plain text.
- Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure keystore (iOS Keychain / Android EncryptedSharedPreferences).
- Images are stored in a private Linode Object Storage bucket with per-user path scoping.
5. Third-Party Services
- Stripe — payment processing. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini API — AI styling features (Pro only). Requests include clothing metadata only; no images are sent. Governed by Google's API Terms.
- Linode (Akamai) Object Storage — photo storage. Governed by Linode's Privacy Policy.
6. Your Rights
You can at any time:
- Access your data — all your items, outfits, and account details are visible inside the app.
- Delete your data — deleting an item removes it and its photo from our servers. You can delete your account by emailing us.
- Export your data — use the Declutter Export feature to download a CSV of your wardrobe.
- Opt out of AI features — simply don't use the AI styling functions; no data is sent to Gemini unless you initiate an AI request.
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to portability and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
7. Children's Privacy
Digital Closet is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify active users via the app. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
